ABOUT JUMP RINGS
What are jump rings?
Jump rings are (usually metal) rings used to make chains and jewellery. You can buy them in different sizes and they can come as plain metal or coated in fun colours. Once you learn how to attach jump rings, there are endless possibilities in terms of joining charms, making earrings or even repairing jewellery you have!
To attach jump rings, it is handy to have a set of pliers. You can buy these at Bunnings or craft stores. They don't need to be fancy but I recommend needle nose or flat nose pliers with smaller ends as this makes it easier to work on smaller jump rings.

How to connect jump rings

1. Start by selecting your jump ring. The size and colour should compliment your arrangement

2. Grab some pliers. Needle nose or flay nose pliers are the easiest as they are delicate enough so you can still see the jump ring.

3. Grab either side of the jump ring so the break is visible

4. Slowly twist each side away from one another. This is how we open the jump ring.

5. Grab your shape. Sometimes it will have a protective sticker from when it was laser cut.

6. Peel off the protective sticker and enjoy the design.

7. Place your jump ring through the hole. If you want to, add any other linking pieces, or your earring hook before joining up the jump ring.

8. Use the same twisting motion to join the two ends of your jump rings back together.

9. Enjoy your earrings!
